The high density of coseismic landslides was found at locations where the valley evolves from U-shaped to V-shaped, along slopes with an inclination between 20 and 50°. Due to the effect of river cutting erosion and human engineering activities, massive coseismic landslides appeared within the scope of 200 m from the river system. Eight hundred sixty small shallow coseismic landslides were found less than 3 km from the seismogenic fault in both earthquakes. Both concave and convex terrain has the same effect of promoting coseismic landslides. The strata of the Carboniferous and Cretaceous are more prone to coseismic landslides occurrence. In the event of another earthquake of similar magnitude in southwest China in the future, the research results can quickly predict the distribution of coseismic landslides and provide a scientific basis for emergency rescue. The present study investigated a wet mechanical pretreatment to improve methane production by anaerobic digestion from biowaste material by separating a biodegradable aqueous slurry fraction (ASF) from a more recalcitrant particulate fraction (PF). Four source-sorted municipal biowastes were studied, namely household (HBW), supermarket (SBW), restaurant (RBW), and green biowaste (GBW). The treatment consisted in soaking the waste in water and then pressing the slurry through a grid with 3-mm openings to separate the two fractions. Methane production of ASF and PF obtained from the four biowastes were measured using the BMP protocol and compared to the potential of the respective untreated biowaste. Results were very different for GBW as compared to the other three BWs. With GBW, which was the most lignocellulosic of the BW studied, only 17% of the initial methane potential was recovered in the ASF. The extraction was much better on the other biowastes and increased in the following order HBW (58%) ≃ RBW (57%)  less then  SBW (67%). The ASF from these biowastes exhibited low total solid contents and high BMPs (416, 408, and 423 NLCH4.g-1vs for HBW, RBW, and SBW respectively). The experimental results obtained in this study therefore showed that wet pressing separation was an efficient pretreatment to improve and facilitate methane production by anaerobic digestion of biowaste such as HBW, RBW, and SBW.As a means of producing the resources required for human survival and development, land is the cornerstone of social development and an important part of the ecological environmental system. To measure the granularity and spatial differentiation of changes in the ecological security levels of the study area, this paper uses the PSR model. A kilometer grid is used as the evaluation unit, and a relative entropy theory is used to obtain the combined weight. The comprehensive index method is used to calculate the ecological security value of the land. ART0380 inhibitor Based on clarifying the dynamics of time and space, the spatial distribution of the ecological security levels in 2020 is simulated by the CA-Markov model. The results show the following (1) the level of ecological security in the city of Deyang decreases from 0.580 in 2005 to 0.558 in 2015, showing a fluctuating downward trend, and different districts, cities, and counties and show varying trends. (2) During the study period, the area classified with a safe level dical guidance for the formulation of sustainable measures.A new wild-type Ganoderma resinaceum isolate was cultivated on glucose-enriched liquid cultures with olive mill wastewaters (OMWs) in initial phenolic compounds concentrations 0.0 (control), 0.5, 0.8, and 1.5 g/l. The effect of the fungus on the reduction of phenolics and color was assessed, whereas biomass production, glucose consumption, intra-cellular (IPS) and extra-cellular (EPS) polysaccharides biosynthesis, antioxidant activity of the biomass, and laccase synthesis were monitored. Results showed that significant phenolic reduction (94.5%) and decolorization (76.5%) occurred, 14.6 g/l of biomass was produced, glucose was almost totally consumed, EPS were produced in sufficient amounts (0.79 g/l), whereas the presence of OMWs enhanced the synthesis of IPS (maximum absolute values 4.0-5.2 g/l corresponding to 35-42% w/w). Kinetic analysis demonstrated that EPS and IPS values fluctuated with time, regardless of the available amount of glucose in the media, showing a maximum in the 17th day of culture. Laccase was highly synthesized in the middle of the fermentation, reaching the maximum value of 14 U/ml. Little growth was however observed at 1.5 g/l phenolics. Strong correlation between total phenolic content and free radical scavenging activity has been noticed in the methanolic extracts of the mycelium. Results strongly suggest the potentiality of G. resinaceum utilization in the OMW waste treatment. This study uncovers the role of regulatory quality, energy use, and globalization in the conventional environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) for South Africa by incorporating structural breaks in the series based on quarterly frequency data between 1996Q1 and 2016Q4. Applying the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model, we confirm a cointegration between the variables. The empirical results suggest the validity of the EKC hypothesis in South Africa. In addition, while energy use exerts positive pressure on ecological footprint, globalization and regulatory quality exert negative pressure on ecological footprint. However, the effect of globalization is weak in the long run while the effect of regulatory quality is weak in short run. The results further reveal that the structural break years are statistically insignificant. The causality result establishes a causal link flowing from all the variables to ecological footprint in the long run. In the short run, economic growth and energy use Granger-cause regulatory quality. Also, while energy use causes ecological footprint, globalization is a predictor of energy use. The policy implication of this study is that increasing the pace of globalization and strengthening regulatory quality are efficient strategies to improve environmental quality and sustain a stable EKC in South Africa.
