Cheetahs (Acinonyx jubatus) are a keystone predator of savanna systems in Africa, yet their populations have dramatically declined due to pressures such as human-wildlife conflict, loss of habitat, and most notably the illegal trade in live cheetah cubs as pets. We provide the most extensive dataset relevant to seized and non-intercepted illegal trade in live cheetahs and cheetah parts for the decade 2010-2019, spanning over 300 sources and 56 countries in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, Oceania and North America. selleck chemical It includes 1,884 individual incidents involving at least 4,000 cheetahs or cheetah parts or products likely or confirmed to breach national laws or CITES regulations. While the covert nature of illegal trade of any kind makes it extremely difficult to capture its true volume, we believe that the information contained in this dataset demonstrates the need for a more in-depth look into illegal cheetah trade, including sustainability assessments with emphasis in regions where cheetah populations are small and widely exploited, such as the Horn of Africa, as this dataset suggests. Ultimately, such actions could lead to improved enforcement and legal frameworks, and provide a guide for CITES actions involving international cooperation and demand reduction efforts.Human embryonic stem cells exhibit great potential as a therapeutic tool in regenerative medicine due to their self-renewal and trilineage differentiation capacity. Maintaining this unique cellular state has been shown to rely primarily on the Activin A / TGFβ signaling pathway. While most conventional culture media are supplemented with TGFβ, in the current study we utilize a modified version of the commercially available mTeSR1, substituting TGFβ for Activin A in order to preserve pluripotency. (1) Cells cultured in ActA-mTesR express pluripotency factors NANOG, OCT4 and SOX2 at comparable levels with cells cultured in TGFβ-mTeSR. (2) ActA-mTeSR cultured cells retain a physiological karyotype. (3) Cells in ActA-mTeSR maintain their trilineage differentiation capacity as shown in the teratoma formation assay. This system can be used to dissect the role of Activin A, downstream effectors and signaling cascades in human embryonic stem cell responses. Here we describe the dataset of the first report of pharmacogenomics profiling in an outpatient spine setting with the primary aims to catalog 1) the genes, alleles, and associated rs Numbers (accession numbers for specific single-nucleotide polymorphisms) analysed and 2) the genotypes and corresponding phenotypes of the genes involved in metabolizing 37 commonly used analgesic medications. The present description applies to analgesic medication-metabolizing enzymes and may be especially valuable to investigators who are exploring strategies to optimize pharmacologic pain management (e.g., by tailoring analgesic regimens to the genetically identified sensitivities of the patient). Buccal swabs were used to acquire tissue samples of 30 adult patients who presented to an outpatient spine clinic with the chief concern of axial neck and/or back pain. Array-based assays were then used to detect the alleles of genes involved in the metabolism of pain medications, including all common (wild type) and most rare variagenotypes and corresponding phenotypes of the genes involved in metabolizing 37 commonly used analgesic medications and 2) the mechanisms of metabolism of the analgesic medications by primary and ancillary pathways. In supplemental spreadsheets, the raw and analysed pharmacogenomics data for all 30 patients evaluated in the primary research article are additionally provided. Collectively, the presented data offer significant reuse potential in future investigations of pharmacogenomics for pain management.A germination test of Vicia faba and Lens culinaris seeds under the effect of bleach and vinegar was conducted for seven days, and the observations were recorded daily. The completely randomized design (CRD) was used to examine the germination with three replicates at the lab conditions. Six germination parameters were measured, including germination percentage (GP), germination index (GI), mean germination time (MGT), mean germination rate (MGR), vigour index (VI), plus the fresh weight (FW) and dry weight (DW) of Vicia faba and Lens culinaris seeds. As a legume crop seeds model, the efficacy of four treatment levels from 0.005% to 0.5% of bleach and vinegar on the germination was tested. A chemical analysis was performed using the ion chromatography (IC) to evaluate the effect of chloride and acetate anions uptake on the seedling germination in addition to other essential nutrients. A significant inhibition in seedling growth was observed with increasing the treatment concentration. The maximum inhibition was recorded for both seeds at 0.5%, followed by 0.1% levels, while a positive effect was represented with the lower concentrations. The chemical analysis of the up taking active ingredients was corroborated the germination outputs. This paper presents the first multimodal neonatal pain dataset that contains visual, vocal, and physiological responses following clinically required procedural and postoperative painful procedures. It was collected from 58 neonates (27-41 gestational age) during their hospitalization in the neonatal intensive care unit. The visual and vocal data were recorded using an inexpensive RGB camera while the physiological responses (vital signs and cortical activity) were recorded using portable bedside monitors. The recorded behavioral and physiological responses were scored by expert nurses using two validated pain scales to obtain the ground truth labels. In addition to behavioral and physiological responses, our dataset contains clinical information such as the neonate's age, gender, weight, pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, and previous painful procedures. The presented multimodal dataset can be used to develop artificial intelligence systems that monitor, assess, and predict neonatal pain based on the analysis of behavioral and physiological responses. It can also be used to advance the understanding of neonatal pain, which can lead to the development of effective pain prevention and treatment.
